"eyewitness news" reporter jane carabao is live with to daze's new developments, jane. >> reporter: natasha, shock and outrage from a northeast philadelphia community now dealing with the death of this married mother of two, this investigation is continuing and tonight, more questions then answers especially about a suspect and a motive. but in the meantime police have at least identified the cause of death. they say this 46 year-old woman was strangled. >> i was so shocked i could not believe it. >> reporter: a northeast philadelphia community still reeling after a woman, a jogger was found dead here at penny pack park near holmes and convent avenues and a community that remains vigilant while police search for her killer. >> i various said let me know when you get there, so they know i'm walk ago long the route of what happened. >> reporter: wednesday nearly a dozen philadelphia homicide detectives searched the area where 46 year-old connie

maclean murray was kill. they have obtained surveillance video and tips from the public but much of what happened here remains unclear. >> we don't have a suspect right now. we don't have have a motive right now. hopefully we will get those questions answered very soon. >> reporter: what police do nose is murray was out for her daily jog around 9:00 monday night. medical examiner's office says she was strangled sometime later and that they go on to say that murray was not sexually assaulted and at this point they say her death has not been link to any other open cases but that is still open to investigation. >> any dna we will get, we will up load and see if we get match that he is way. >> reporter: police are asking neighbors not to run alone at night advice that they have already heated. >> unless you are with a group of people, or, you know, carrying pepper spray would i not recommend especially inside or around the the woods. >> reporter: police say murray jogged every day, different routes at different times. they are still looking for her cell phone and her head phones. they have not been able to find that at the scene just

yet. it is a wooded area. they have been out there all day searching for new information and interviewing possible witnesses. if you have any information give police a call. reporting live outside the round house jane carabao for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". well, now to the weather, showers have moved out of the region and sunny stretch ace head. meteorologist kathy orr is in the weather center with the first forecast including that rip current concern down the shore. >> absolutely chris, still a concern right through this evening. right now on storm scan three we are looking at dry conditions as a cold front passes through the region. not a great deal of instability in the atmosphere and we saw spotty showers this afternoon but we will take it, yes, we are in for a very sunny stretch indeed. late this afternoon, we peaked in temperatures. in philadelphia we are 8o same in trenton and millville, 81 allentown and reading. seventy-two in the poconos this evening temperatures will be falling through 70's and skies mainly clear at

night with the moon glowing as we head toward super moon on sunday. here is good news the rip current risk will be lowered to a maryland rate risk for tomorrow, still swim at beaches that are guarded. it is still a danger. this afternoon we had elevated high risk as berta gets farther away from the mainland u.s., risk will lower. tomorrow we will be in much better shape but it won't be back to normal as far as surf is concerned until friday and weekend. that is very latest on the rip currents and down the shore. i will be back with the seven day later in the broadcast, chris. >> the concern over rip currents, does have beach patrols down the shore on high alert tonight. beach patrol in atlantic city reports 48 rescues yesterday but they do note that today a wave size is actually decreasing. in the past couple days there have been 27 water rescues in wildwood, three just today, and two beach areas, poplar avenue and others were flagged

for rip currents currently. cape may beach patrol reports two rescues there today and ten water-related injuries, yesterday. future of philadelphia public schools remains uncertain tonight, in an announcement carried live on cbs philly.com, governor tom corbett authorized 265 million-dollar advance for the struggling district. the superintendent says that he is still not sure if schools can opened, on time next month. "eyewitness news" reporter matt rivers has more. >> this is not rocket science. it is not even regular science. it is common sense. >> reporter: if only it were that simple but this is funding philadelphia schools and an issue that is never easy. this year is there an 81 million-dollar budget deficit a gap that the district hoped to close with funding from a $2 per pack cigarette tax in philadelphia but last week state legislators chose not to vote on the issue. so wednesday governor corbett took his own action. >> i'm authorizing today 265 million-dollar in advanced

payments to the philadelphia school district. >> reporter: district already had money, in its budget, state is just releasing it a bit earlier. >> the goal of this axis to allow the doors to open on day one and avoid layoffs. >> reporter: but layoffs might not ab voided a delayed start to the school year and a shorter school year are still on the table too. that is because the advance isn't new funding just money being shuffled around. >> although we are thrilled with the advancements we're thrilled with certifications, it does not resolve the 81 million-dollar budget gap. >> reporter: superintendent hite says cigarette tax would fill that gap, governor corbett supports measure and had a in message for legislators. >> return to harrisburg before school starts and i expect them to addres number one order of business. >> reporter: but legislative leaders say they won't be back until september 15th, in the meantime students, parents, teachers wait until august 15th when officials are expect to announce what cuts,

county. investigators suspect he faked his death. eyewitness new jersey reporter cleve bryan talked to an eye witt the necessary to the crash about these new developments. >> it seems like the most ridiculous thing to pull off. >> reporter: tom murphy has had a lot to think about witnessing a boating accident near longport. he helped victim justin bells get a shore and remember bells was distraught that a friend was still in the water. >> unless he is a good actor he came out distraught, out of breath. >> reporter: there was an extensive search for 44 year-old andrew bid dell, a power boat race shore crashed a pontoon both in the buoy and disappeared in the water. it has come to light egg harbor township police that biddle may have staged it to avoid criminal charges. biddle and his racing partner tracie are accused of conducting fraudulent boat sales out of the marina in northfield. biddle received a down payment for a boat in the amount of $20,000 never supplied the boat.

stay out of that water. it will improve tomorrow but it will be a dangerous situation with moderate risk during the entire day. lets go to our live neighborhood network that takes us to the leadership academy in philadelphia where we started off with gray clouds, gray skies, i should say a few showers and then after the front moved through this afternoon temperatures warmed up, plenty of blue sky, low humidity, 79 degrees in philadelphia. storm scan three you can see those showers during the midday and afternoon period now they have died out, front has moved through air dryer, little breeze out there but very comfortable. philadelphia at 80 degrees our high so far for the the day, 81 in wilmington. eighty in millville. eighty-one in allentown and town the shore temperatures close to 80 degrees. in the wake of the front in the 70's and we are going to get into some of that cooler air overnight tonight but it will stay sunny. during the the day on thursday high pressure over great lakes

brings us this northwesterly flow, dry air, low humidity, plenty of sunshine we have in the seen a stretch like this the entire summer. great combination of the sun dry conditions and temperatures that are very comfortable for friday, for saturday right into sunday and this area of high pressure is forecast to be high enough to keep le pressure to the south, right through sunday. so our next chance of the shower or storm won't come until next week. on sunday we have a rare event. it is a super moon. we had one a month or so ago but this one will be extra big, and here is why. the full moon occurs on sunday, within the same hour, that the moon is at it closes point in it or bit to the earth, so that will make ate peer even bigger. it is over 200,000 miles away but it will be closer then it did last get around it will be at least 14 percent closer and 30 percent, brighter. it is expect to be the best super moon, of the entire year. tonight, skies will be clear. comfortable.

back. it looked rough earlier but sun came out in tonight. we have tv news, tv newspapers on one team, radio and web on the other team. tv newspaper last time we check in we were down 01 and it is sti zero to one at this hour but we are, pumped up, fired up. i got my bat on the ball tonight. difficult my part although it was caught bye i ran hard anyway. lets look at what happened earlier when we got down here. beautiful afternoon. we were throwing ball back and forth out in the outfield getting fielding practice. great time at citizens bank park. beautiful breeze out here. been a great night. coming down for phillies game tonight first pitch temperature 77 degrees, full sunshine, stadium is all ready filling up here and it is going to be a great night for a ballgame, tonight. new again coming back here live, i have another at bat coming up. i hope i can get up to redeem myself. anybody who played with me in the peco field in phoenixville know i was never a clutch player but maybe time to redeem myself tonight.
